More than half of all attempts to start a business fail. In a quest to help explain the variance in this phenomenon, we develop and test hypotheses related to the role that the resource acquisition self-efficacy, entrepreneurial activities, and start-up success in the new venture creation process. Utilizing data from the three areas of China, we find that resource acquisition self-efficacy is significantly associated with start-up activity. Further, we found that a higher number of start-up activities increased the likelihood of successful new venture creation. Finally, limitation and implications are discussed.
