Abstract :
A polynomial RF predistorter IC and test setup for linearization experiments are presented. The system is aimed for UMTS applications in the 2.1 GHz hand. The output power of the linearization IC is ca. -10 dBm. The predistortion is generated by a complex-valued 5th-degree polynomial, and the circuit also includes a squared envelope output that can be used as an envelope injection signal. This envelope injection can be used to minimize the memory effects caused by frequency dependent biasing impedances around the RF power amplifier.
