Abstract :
The concept of 2D computer simulation of microwave radiometric images (MIs) of the ocean surface is developed. The oceanic scene is modeled by a statistical ensemble of the microwave contributions from different hydrophysical factors (HF). In particular, the physically-based electromagnetic models of surface roughness and foam/whitecap are used. As a result, simulated MIs represent multi-gradational compositional images, containing a set of local and/or extended bright objects and fields. So-called “flat” and “thin” structures occur on the images. The features may be associated with wind wave-generated processes. Some examples of the image modeling are presented. The computer tool can be applied for analysis of high-resolution microwave aircraft imagery
