  • Abstract
    Improved utilization of condition information in connection with maintenance planning of offshore installations has a potential for significant costs savings. This paper presents approaches for utilization of condition information both in short term and long term maintenance planning. In connection with short term planning for improved coordination of jobs, in long term planning for improved estimation of residual life of systems and equipment. The short term maintenance planning approach uses information from several systems such as condition monitoring, maintenance planning and management systems for equipment and spares. A decision support tool assists the selection of maintenance activities and performs a dynamic grouping of the maintenance activities. The paper does not provide any mathematical formulation of the short term optimization problem, but attempts to identify and briefly discuss important parameters influencing the optimal solution. The long term maintenance planning approach includes the use of condition monitoring data in the evaluation of optimal replacement policy. A stochastic dynamic decision model has been developed using knowledge about the nature of equipment/systems condition. Two examples are discussed, a gas compressor and a gas turbine
