  • Abstract
This paper presents the details of the Energy Policy Act (EPACT ´92) as it pertains to AC induction motor efficiency effective October 24, 1997 along with other motor performance characteristics that are affected. Tables are provided showing which motor products are affected by the law and which ones are exempt. Motor efficiency values are provided for the various options that are available. A summary of the motor performance differences is shown with the additional benefits that are achieved with the energy efficient designs. Application tips are provided to assist the user in maximizing overall motor performance. The paper also presents an overview of how other variables such as voltage, load, speed, starting and environment can affect the efficiency and motor life
