At present the shortage of highly skilled workers becomes an important factor which affects sustainable economic development and innovation in Guangxi. This paper presents the status of the highly skilled workers in Guangxi and discussed five reasons which cause the shortage of highly skilled workers in Guangxi. Strategies are proposed in this paper. It is suggested that the development of vocational colleges should be accelerated, the evaluation system for identification of highly skilled workers should be improved, a conducive and incentive mechanism should be established to guarantee the well growth of high skilled workers. Also the new talent outlook is much important which should be propagandized by the government departments.
