Title :
Developing an intelligent controller for integrated manufacturing resource planning

Abstract :
Develops an intelligent controller for an integrated manufacturing resource planner within a manufacturing execution system. The overall goal is to construct an integrated planner and controller which first generates a master production schedule that satisfies all material and capacity requirement constraints and then defines a closed-loop control law which will implement that schedule. In addition, numerous forms of manufacturing flexibility and uncertainty will be considered. The proposed intelligent controller will rely heavily upon an object-oriented simulation methodology to provide guidance in decomposing the overall planning problem while supporting the inclusion of system-wide controllers to implement the defined plan. Finally, the technology of online simulation analysis will be employed in order to access the future performance of the system while operating under a given plan and its associated enabling control law
