Abstract :
Statistical studies observed that most of the world´s hydrocarbon reserves are in carbonate formation. However, carbonate reservoirs are mostly heterogeneous and have primary and secondary porosity (Vug or Fracture). The primary (matrix) represents the major storage capacity while secondary system (Vug or Fracture) provides the main paths of the flowing fluids. In addition, The new studies show that Vuggy porous media are common in carbonate rocks. Because it is difficult to collect production data for one well with different vugs distribution, one of the most popular reservoir simulators in the oil and gas industry was used, which is the EclipseTM for Schlumberger Company. The objectives of this study is to simulate of vuggy reservoir for two phase radial flow with different vug fractions and distribution because most of the previous studies were for linear flow. Also, this paper presents the effect of vug fractions on oil recovery factor, oil in place, total water production, and breakthrough time.
