Abstract :
The authors present research on knowledge-based vision which addresses the problem of quality grading within the fish processing industry. In particular, the problem of grading herring roe within a high-volume extraction-processing-packaging line is considered in the light of high-speed computer vision and pattern recognition techniques that form the basis for a grading expert that automatically grades individual pieces of roe according to an existing grading scheme
