Abstract :
In this paper, the growth process and the anticancer substance production in fermentation of endophyte FSN002 were simulated by fuzzy models. Based on the obtained fuzzy kinetic models, the membership functions of the exponential growth phase and the high-speed production phase were determined. The coupling degree between growth and production is zero, indicating that the growth phase and production phase in FSN002 fermentation process were separated clearly. Therefore, in future the two-stage fermentation pattern can be used to get the maximum cell density and the greatest anti-cancer substance production in one fermentation tank. The kinetic model presented in this paper suggests a new quantitative way to study the relationship between growth and production in fermentation.
