Abstract :
The authors describe a prototype integrated software environment for performance evaluation, which incorporates both the knowledge of queuing theory and simulation techniques. They first propose a model description language, the extended Kendall language (EKL), which is based on Kendall´s notation in the field of queuing theory. They present a prototype integrated software environment using the object-oriented PROLOG language, CESP. Based on developing knowledge base constructed by CESP, the software environment can provide very liable, flexible, and user-friendly means for performance evaluation. In the present environment, one can analytically evaluate queuing networks with product form solutions to get average queue length and waiting time, and other performance measures. One can also evaluate more general models with a single queue using the proposed tool
