Abstract :
Nowadays, increasing importance has been attached to power management in modern data centers. A lot of solutions have been produced to reduce power consumption without producing an effect on quality of service. One common way is to associate with virtualization technology that has been widely used in data centers. This is due to not only its features of reliability and ease of management, but also its contribution to power management and saving. Based on these features, we present Evpool architecture to reduce power consumption in data centers using virtualization technology. Evpool architecture can manage resource allocation more reasonably and intelligently, and improve resource utilization through a two-layer system distributed on single and multiple servers. We supply web service through virtual cluster, using 1998 world cup web site trace to verify the performance of our architecture. The results shows that 5.5% energy can be saved when distributing Evpool on the small cluster in our experiment.
