Abstract :
The performance improvement of a memory ARQ (automatic repeat request) scheme using soft decision and reliability zone detectors is analyzed. A number of probable error patterns are generated whenever a packet is detected in error. The formation of the error patterns is governed by the reliability weights assigned to the received bits. It is shown that the probability of repeat request is significantly reduced with the use of soft decision and reliability zone detectors
