Abstract :
Fast active and reactive power flow control as well as voltage control requires the application of power electronics. In spite of existing concepts for FACTS devices, optimal combination of voltage source converter modules with conventional equipment leads to customized FACTS devices. This paper presents system concepts providing cost effective network control solutions based on the technology and the control philosophy of customized FACTS devices. Two given examples underline the design concept and show the operational potential
