Abstract :
This paper presents the dynamic characteristics of a self-excited reluctance generator (SERG) subject to sudden connection of an induction motor (IM) load. The frequency of the generated voltage of a SERG is independent of loading or excitation conditions provided that the rotor speed of the machine is kept constant. This paper uses a d-q axis equivalent-circuit model to derive equations of a SERG connecting to an IM load. Experimental results obtained from a laboratory reluctance machine feeding an IM load are also performed to confirm the feasibility of the proposed method
