Abstract :
This paper presents the simple design expressions for circular microstrip patch with spaced dielectric and covered dielectric loaded with ice. The resonant frequency of circular microstrip antenna with cover dielectric decreases as h2/h increases. The % change in fr w. r. to circular microstrip patch is 1.96% and 9.52% respectively for epsivr2 = 2.32 & epsivr3 = 10.2 for epsivr1 = 2.94 & h2/h=9.52. The effect of loaded ice on covered circular microstrip patch further lower down the resonant frequency. Its effect is more on fr for small h2/h ratio. The intention or unintentional air-gap brings down the fr of circular microstrip patch. Spaced dielectric effect on fr is more for small air-gap. The % change in fr for spaced dielectric superstrate is 1.58% and 3.05 % for epsivr3 = 3.5 and 10.2 at h2/h = 1.5 w. r. to circular microstrip patch fr 2.678 GHz . This expression is suitable for CAD on desk.
