Abstract :
Strains in a loaded material can be monitored through its dielectrostriction response. Dielectrostriction is defined as variation of material´s dielectric properties with deformation. A planar interdigitated sensor measuring dielectrostriction response is capable monitoring deformation of a material without mechanical contact. Present study confirms linearity of the dielectrostriction response with strains. Demonstrated four capacitor sensor rosette is capable to measure both principal direction and difference in principal strains of a plane loaded specimen
