Abstract :
ALIS is a dual sensor for humanitarian demining, which is a combination of electromagnetic Induction sensor (EMI) and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), developed by Tohoku University, Japan. ALIS is equipped with a sensor tracking system using a CCD camera with image processing, which enables signal processing for subsurface imaging. Two sets of ALSI have been deployed in mine fields in Cambodia since 2009 and more than 50 buried landmines have been detected. We found that the Synthetic Aperture Radar processing (SAR processing) is effective not only imaging the buried objects, but also for reduction of clutter of soil.
