Abstract :
To achieve automatic needle puncturing for automatic blood sampling, we attempted to detect blood flowing into the needle by measuring the electric impedance between the inside of the needle and the skin. The needle with electrode was set on a syringe with a force sensor, and used to puncture a rabbit´s vein. Electric impedance suddenly decreased after a final peak of puncturing force. This result shows that the changes of electric impedance of the needle can be applied to control needle insertion for automatic blood sampling
