Abstract :
The concept of substrate integrated circuit (SIC) is applied to the optoelectronic devices. The design and analysis of the new optoelectronic devices, including SIC photodetector and SIC modulator, are presented. The SIC concept can be applied to the isotropic and anisotropic substrate with single or multilayer geometry. Photodetectors and modulators can be integrated with the other microwave devices in the same substrate. Microwave part of the new proposed electro-optic devices are designed and optimized for radio over fiber applications. The travelling wave photodetectors with substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) in multilayered isotropic substrate is integrated. In addition the integration of LiNbO3 Mach-Zehnder traveling wave modulator with SIW in single anisotropic substrate is considered.
