Abstract :
This paper is intended to serve as an introduction to a special session on urodynamic measurements and devices. The structure and function of the lower urinary tract is described. There is dual voluntary and autonomous neural control of the vesico-urethral function. The change from storage to voiding is further complicated by behavioral and social factors. Thus the process of urine storage and voiding comprises a basic mechanism and a complex neural system that controls it
