Abstract
Four new detectors based on constant false alarm rate (CFAR) cell averaging (CA), and order statistics (OS) detectors for use in single-user WCDMA are introduced. The performance of these new detectors has shown their great superiority over the more conventional approaches in detecting signals in a single-user multipath environment. In contrast to the existing detectors which presume Gaussianity on the interference, the proposed schemes are independent of the interference statistical behavior. Through simulations the performance of the new detectors in fast and slow fading has shown them to exceed the existing methods.
