Abstract :
To obtain input matching, wideband fiber-optic preamplifier fabricated with CMOS technology has additional problems different from GaAs technology. Traditional solutions of input matching suffer from bad noise performance. Based on Z matrix analysis, a novel current mode preamplifier that is composed of a Wilson current amplifier and a transfiguration of a gain-boost cell using CMOS technology is proposed. The novel architecture demonstrates good input and output impedance matching with 50 Ω transmission line and low average noise spectral density simultaneously, thus it has a potential for hybrid integration with photodetectors and limiting amplifiers.
