            Abstract :
Two plasma insulin estimators were developed and evaluated using simulation and human glucose-insulin data. The estimators use continuously monitored plasma glucose, and they were based on a simplified mathematical model of glucose-insulin metabolism. Estimator 2 is more robust to noise than Estimator 1, but it depends linearly on time and becomes unstable as time increases. A two-stage estimator is proposed to combine the good short-term behavior of Estimator 2 with the better long-term properties of Estimator 1
