Abstract :
A wiring harness or buswork has been typically used to interconnect the components in power-electronic converters. Many design and manufacturing problems originate in the interconnect. This paper proposes a change in the design philosophy of power electronic converters using a system of "coordinated interconnect". With coordinated interconnect, components connect directly to each other without the intervening wiring harness or buswork. This paper describes one possible implementation of coordinated interconnect and outlines the requirements for such a system.
