Abstract
This paper describes a first proposal towards a Quality of Experience (QoE) model and framework for home network services. This model aims at mapping efficiently the user preferences to the home resources, including network and devices, so as to maximize the quality perceived by the user. First-class citizen home services considered are of multimedia type. We propose an end-to-end approach to the problem: the middleware, home network, and networked devices involved in a given user service session collaborate in order to select the best quality configuration of the service that fulfils the user needs with regards to available resources. The model is adaptive, as the selected configuration may be renegotiated dynamically at any time depending on fluctuations of resources.
