Abstract :
Skyline query is a typical multi-attributes query and very useful in sensor networks application including environment monitoring, etc. This paper defines location-based skyline queries in wireless sensor networks and proposes an energy-efficient snapshot location-based skyline query processing approach (Ring-Skyline, RS). RS divides the monitoring area into several rings and adopts in-network query processing to reduce energy consumption. In each ring, some sensor nodes are selected as server nodes and responsible for distributing query and aggregating data with information of one-hop range neighbor nodes. RS also can progressively returns the query results so as to improve response time. Simulation results show RS scheme can achieve lower energy consumption and smaller response time while keeping the precision of querying.
