Abstract :
A large number of old protection and control (P&C) systems are still in operation. In addition to reducing possibilities for failures, upgrading aging P&C systems offers flexibility in operations and access to vast amount of information. Possibility to monitor equipment performance and failure parameters helps with equipment life projections and replacement decisions. This paper describes and evaluates strategies for relay upgrades and how integration of modern P&C systems into enterprise systems helps improve overall asset management strategies
