Abstract
A major load center in Entergy system showed fast voltage collapse under certain contingency conditions. Detailed studies were performed to find the right mix of static and dynamic reactive power support devices to solve the problem. This paper presents the process that was followed in studying the problem, criteria applied for fixing the problem and shows the results with solutions implemented. Based on these studies a static VAr compensator and several capacitor banks were installed in the area of interest
