Abstract
A numerical treatment is undertaken to investigate the operating characteristics of TOAD devices subject to frequency detuned signal and control pulses. In comparison with positive detuning, it is shown that negative detuning can greatly enhance the output power in the switched region causing a lower threshold energy and can decrease the width of the switching window. The results suggests that negative frequency detuning should be adopted for separating pulses by wavelength. This is consistent with available experimental results
