Abstract :
We demonstrate the newly proposed electrically band-limited CSRZ (EB-CSRZ) signal generator with a wideband CMOS signal mixer. The signal mixer is fabricated with 0.13 - mum CMOS technology and consists of inverter stages for data and clock signals, a mixing stage for switching data and clock signals, and a differential amplifier for additional amplification. The implemented signal mixer has 3-dB bandwidth of 6.4 GHz and isolation between data and clock of 21 dB at 3-dB bandwidth. The EB-CSRZ with the signal mixer has been demonstrated up to 10 Gb/s. The stimulated Brillouin scattering threshold of the EB-CSRZ signal is about +12 dBm.
