Abstract
This paper proposes a new approach of the characteristics analysis for a three-phase induction motor (IM). In this approach, the magnetic flux in the air gap region is calculated from the structure of the IM. Therefore, the characteristics analysis for the IM become easier when the inverter, imbalance three-phase source, and so on are used as supply. Besides, the influence of the slots and skew of rotor and stator can be considered, the calculation time is much shorter than FEM. This paper includes the method of analysis, starting and steady characteristics of IM when the balanced sinusoidal three-phase AC supply and the inverter are used.
