Abstract :
This paper presents a new synchronization method requiring only one beacon, not consecutive beacons. All slaves in a conventional system need to receive two consecutive beacons from the network master for synchronization although an isochronous transfer mode in wireless 1394 network guarantees a fixed data rate for real-time data transfer. It is very hard to receive two consecutive beacons every time due to the noise in a wireless channel. Whenever all slaves receive a beacon, they save its number and cycle time in the registers. They can get the drift time from the saved information comparing with the received one. The proposed scheme achieves 82% performance improvement over the previously used method of the wireless 1394 TA.
