Abstract :
This is a summary of the presentation on the panel entitled "Power Industry Workforce for the Future" at the 2006 IEEE/PES PSCE in Atlanta, Georgia. This paper will address workforce issues attendant to the restructuring of the electric power industry and potential solutions will be discussed. This restructuring has been marked by the entrance of many new entities into the industry, by the reduction of personnel levels, reductions in the transfer of past knowledge and experience, and by efforts to minimize personnel costs through labor saving productivity measures. The driving motive is to increase profits by doing more with less
