Abstract :
The formation of the electric utility infrastructure in the United States was done by incorporating substantial human capital. This is a summary of the presentation on the panel titled "Power Industry Workforce of the Future" at the 2006 IEEE/PES PSCE in Atlanta, Georgia. It is clear from the demographics that massive changes in the workforce are imminent. In addition, technology advances are altering the technologies which will increasingly be deployed in the industry. The workforce issues facing the industry today are far more complex than they have ever been. EPRI has conducted extensive research into capturing valuable undocumented knowledge and making it avail able to other personnel when needed. This research was proven in nuclear generation facilities and now applied in power system engineering
