Abstract
Bluetooth is a low-cost, short-range wireless technology capable of providing many communication functionalities, ranging from wire replacement to simple personal area networking. In a Bluetooth piconet, the master essentially controls the channel. Due to an absence of coordination between independent masters while accessing the wireless medium, devices will encounter high packet interference if several piconets are simultaneously operating in the same area. In this paper, an analytical model of packet interference in a cluster of piconets using multiple-slot packets was presented. According to the case whether network synchronous and different packets interference, the packet send success probability of different packets and the maximal throughput are obtained. Our model can be employed to help form the optimal configuration of a cluster of piconets to gain maximum aggregated throughput.
