Abstract
This paper presents some of the issues surrounding patentability of financial software. Two representative patents, one assigned to Merrill Lynch and the other to College Savings Bank, reveal what has already been patented in the area of financial services. Merrill Lynch´s patent formulates the Cash management Account (CMA) and shows its software implementation in the form of a high-level flowchart
