Abstract :
A number of sensors have been identified suitable for basic detection of land mines. It seems that sensor fusion offers an improved method for an improvement in false alarm rate without large reduction in detection probability. The paper states the international scope of the land mine infestation problem, and the range of sensors and their characteristics. A simulation of a number of sensors is in progress. This simulation will allow important decisions to be made concerning the choice of sensor and weighting algorithms
