Abstract :
In this paper, a novel time spreading (TS) method is introduced for combating the deleterious effects of frequency non-selective (flat) fading channels. It is shown how this new spreading technique is able to reconcile two conflicting objectives which were identified in Wornell (1996), where a different time-spreading mechanism was introduced. The proposed technique provides significant performance gains over conventional quadrature phase-shift keying (QPSK) modulation under certain fading channel conditions
