Abstract :
This paper presents a DVS based multimedia system which is designed to effectively reduce the power consumption of multimedia signal processor. The DVS control technique of the system capitalizes the microscopic, i.e., frame-wise, variations of processing requirement for the application of reduced supply voltage and frequency levels. The Xscale processor based DVS system is implemented and performs an MPEG-2 audio/video decoder algorithm for experimental verification of the power saving.
