Abstract :
Based on the work performed recently both in the FSAN initiative and in the EURESCOM P614 Project, the presentation will review the basic technologies needed for the implementation of FTT infrastructures supporting broadband services. Having stressed the economic and technical requirements for access network applications, major active and passive optical components will be addressed with main emphasis on factors which have a strong impact on cost decrease
