Abstract :
Because of the higher resolution, the data volume of remote sensing image is very large. To communicate and use them on network, efficient compression is very important. Based on the frame of conventional JPEG2000 compression, this paper puts forward a kind of modified compression algorithm aiming at characteristics that the correlation of remote sensing image is lower than common images. The core of modified algorithm includes two aspects: one aspect is to eliminate and segment treatment the unimportant background information of wavelet coefficient in high frequency sub-bands after wavelet transformations; the other aspect is to combine the scanning process of coding passes in EBCOT coding. The experiment proves that this optimal algorithm can significantly improve the compression ratio of remote sensing image hardly influencing the quality of remote sensing image and shorten the compression time of remote sensing image.
