Abstract
Discontinuous transmission based on speech/pause detection represents a valid solution to improve the spectral efficiency of new-generation wireless communication systems. One of the modern standards that used in speech processing systems as voice activity detector (VAD) is ITU-T G.729B. In this paper, we try to improve the performance of this standard in low SNRs by minimum changes. This modification continued by new coefficients named correction factors. We compare the results of our proposed method in various types of noises by other standards.
