Abstract
A set of algorithms are studied for high density mobile networks to pack coexisting time slots of wideband time division multiple access (WTDMA) frames in an effective way. The method is introduced as radio resource knapsack packing, as packet traffic is the main consideration. The method includes centralised channel assignment and power control algorithms that will maximise a utility function defined by the operator. The goal of the proposed algorithms is to maximise either the throughput of the system (a cluster of cells) or the value of the correctly received packets
