Abstract :
Privacy research is often run through a lens comprising of human-computer interface and engineering perspectives, with a marked preference for measurement and quantification.Anthropology can help fill this gap by taking an interpretive approach to knowledge creation, where users´ experiences as observed in real life are the basis for an inductive analysis of largely qualitatively gathered data. Anthropologically gathered data and analysis can leverage new perspectives on issues around privacy, and “establish the interconnections between the biological, social, historical, and cultural dimensions of human life that are otherwise parceled up among different disciplines for separate study.
