Abstract
In the present work, we study how to increase crashworthiness probability of car body structure. Experimentally, hybrid carbon/glass fibre composite was made in order to get higher mechanical properties. As a result, with increasing carbon fibre volume fraction (% vol.), tensile strength and flexural strength of the composite are increased. Simulation of non elastic collision between car body structure and fixed object is also performed using data properties taken from the experiment. By varying external load associated to different velocity, the result shows that simulated car body structure could absorb intermediate external load (up to 200 kN) which is still acceptable for occupant.
