Abstract
In this paper, we propose a stochastic rerouting (SR) scheme for handoff in mobile wireless ATM networks, which is more efficient by choosing the optimal virtual path with the MBU (maximum bandwidth unused). The proposed algorithm adopts the probabilistic method considering the network link state. We evaluate the performance of the algorithm by running simulations, written in SIMAN, a simulation package, on a Sun Sparc workstation. The simulation results indicate our scheme can minimize the blocking probability while performing handoff. Finally, we conclude by comparing SR with other schemes
