Abstract
This paper proposes and investigates a medium access control (MAC) layer for the FRAMES Multiple Access (FMA) platform mode 1 without spreading. It has been constructed bottom-up using circuit reservation multiple access (CRMA) as a basis. Real time (RT) terminals are served in a CRMA mode manner and receive a reservation for a certain slot (or number of slots) for the entire duration of their conversation. Non-real time (NRT) terminals are served in a packet switched like mode manner and receive a reservation for the duration of a single frame
