Abstract :
An anomaly in the L- version of the Laplace transform currently used in most electrical engineering textbooks is demonstrated. The anomaly manifests itself in the solution of differential equations for t=0-. The L- transform yields correct results for t⩾0. The Lp transform presented reveals the origin of the inconsistency and a means of removing the inconsistency, if desired. The Lp transform is not recommended as a replacement for the L- transform but is offered as a means of putting the inconsistency into perspective
