Abstract :
We have used computer graphics to generate, study and analyze more than 400 symmetrical patterns. We then identified common and rare pattern types. The study of geometry has always produced and continues to produce many beautiful symmetric forms. These patterns offer a rich source for exploration by artists and are also of interest to mathematicians, architects, archaeologists and others. The work in this paper discusses a new recipe using color, text and symmetry to generate a unique construction, which richly illustrates and reflects the influence of the written word (e.g. poems or prose) whether random, symmetrical or recurring. In producing such a work of art we might hypothesize that once an item of literature is written it contains its own pattern of imaging and using symmetry we can explore this. It focuses on the rare type of patterns and it goes on to develop algorithm-based tilling that are used to evolve our Java program.
